Beekeeping Introductory Day

Once a year we hold a Beekeeping Introductory Day which gives you the chance to see what beekeeping is all about. It also provides a thorough overview of the whole process for those who are interested but don't want to keep bees themselves and for those who just want to help bees. More info & booking.

Beginners
Course

The Beginners Course runs from April to August each year. The aim is to give you the knowledge and hands-on experience you need to start keeping bees yourself. Most beginners acquire bees during the course. More info & booking.

Module 1 - Honeybee Management

Hosted by NDBKA Master Beekeeper Terry Payne on Wednesdays 7-9pm 8th & 15th & 29th Jan, 12th & 26th Feb, 5th March in Iwerne Minster.

Module 2 - Honey Bee Products and Forage

5 weekly sessions starting Jan 17th 2025, hosted by Sue Billington in Blandford St. Mary.

Module 6 - Honey Bee Behaviour

Hosted by Lesley Gasson on Mondays 20th, 27th January, 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th February at the Colliton Club in Dorchester from 7-9pm.

BBKA Basic Assessment

This covers all the basic things which all beekeepers should know. The syllabus covers the understanding of how bees interact with the rest of nature and how they are looked after, swarming and diseases together with the practical skills needed to handle bees and to interpret what you see happening in a hive.
